Jamaica Targets MICE Growth at IMEX America
Jamaica Seeks to Strengthen MICE Tourism Offerings at IMEX America 2026 in Las Vegas
The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) is using its participation at IMEX America 2026, October 13-15, at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas to showcase Jamaica’s recovery following Hurricane Melissa, reaffirm its readiness to welcome visitors and pursue new business opportunities across the island’s meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector.
John Woolcock, Manager of Groups & Convention at the JTB, said Jamaica’s presence at the annual industry gathering is focused on strengthening the destination’s position in the global MICE market, rebuilding and deepening relationships with international buyers, and converting interest into future group business for tourism stakeholders.
According to Woolcock, the primary objective at IMEX America 2026 is to reinforce Jamaica’s position in the competitive international MICE marketplace while demonstrating the progress made since Hurricane Melissa in October 2025.
“This year is particularly meaningful for Jamaica. Following Hurricane Melissa in October 2025, our tourism industry has demonstrated tremendous resilience, and the destination has made significant progress in its recovery. We are coming to IMEX with a strong and positive message: Jamaica is ready, our tourism partners are energized, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead,” Woolcock noted.
IMEX America brings together leading meeting planners, incentive travel professionals, corporate buyers and industry decision-makers. The event gives destinations and tourism suppliers a platform to rebuild confidence, develop relationships, showcase their offerings and secure future business.
For Jamaica, the conference is an opportunity to reconnect with existing clients, establish relationships with new meeting and incentive planners, and present the depth and diversity of the island’s MICE product as the destination continues its recovery.
“Ultimately, our objective is to convert increased awareness and interest for Jamaica into qualified leads and future group business for the destination,” Woolcock stated.
Creating opportunities across Jamaica’s tourism sector
The JTB’s participation at IMEX America is designed to generate opportunities for a broad cross-section of Jamaica’s tourism industry, including hotels, attractions, destination management companies (DMCs) and other businesses that serve groups.
Woolcock emphasized that the event allows international buyers to connect directly with local tourism partners and see how Jamaica’s suppliers can collaborate to deliver complete programmes for meetings, conferences, incentive trips and other group events.
“For Jamaica, this creates an invaluable opportunity not only to promote the destination but also to connect buyers directly with our hotels, DMCs, attractions and other tourism partners. Our role is to help create those connections and demonstrate how Jamaica’s tourism stakeholders can work together to deliver seamless and memorable group programs,” he stressed.
The specific business opportunities extend beyond hotel rooms and meeting facilities. New group contracts can generate demand for airport transfers, ground transportation, restaurants, excursions, entertainment, event production, wellness providers, artisans and local suppliers. Incentive programmes can also direct spending toward attractions, cultural experiences, community-based enterprises and other businesses that help visitors engage with Jamaica.
Corporate meetings, incentive trips and conferences therefore have the potential to support multiple tourism-related industries while creating additional opportunities for local communities and entrepreneurs. These linkages can help distribute the economic benefits of tourism and contribute to the island’s broader recovery.
“At the JTB, IMEX is an important marketplace. The relationships established here have the potential to generate business across Jamaica’s tourism sector for years to come,” Woolcock emphasized.
Jamaica’s appeal to meeting and incentive planners
Addressing feedback from meeting planners and industry partners at IMEX America, Woolcock said Jamaica continues to attract interest because it offers more than traditional meeting facilities and hotel accommodation.
The destination combines hospitality, natural attractions, cuisine, culture and recreational activities, giving planners the flexibility to create distinctive programmes tailored to corporate groups and incentive travellers.
“For incentive groups in particular, the destination has a very strong proposition. We have exceptional accommodations, beautiful beaches and landscapes, outstanding cuisine, a globally recognized culture, music, wellness, adventure and a wide variety of activities that can be incorporated into customized group programs and team building experiences,” Woolcock stated.
He added that convenient airlift and modern airports further enhance Jamaica’s appeal to planners seeking warm-weather destinations for conferences, corporate meetings and incentive travel.
The ability to combine business sessions with cultural immersion, wellness activities, adventure and leisure experiences enables planners to design programmes that meet professional objectives while delivering memorable experiences for participants.
As competition intensifies among international destinations seeking a greater share of the MICE market, Jamaica’s strategy at IMEX America centres on communicating its recovery, highlighting its distinctive experiences and connecting buyers with the local partners capable of delivering group programmes.
Through its presence at IMEX America 2026, the JTB is seeking to translate those connections into tangible leads, contracts and visitor spending for Jamaica’s tourism industry. The effort positions group travel as an important contributor to tourism growth, stronger economic linkages and the destination’s continued recovery after Hurricane Melissa.
