Kemar Harrison Set for Jamaica Fashion Week Debut

For 26-year-old Kemar Harrison of Golden Grove, St. Ann, what began as an unexpected opportunity has quickly become the realization of a dream. The emerging model is preparing to make his runway debut at the inaugural staging of Jamaica Fashion Week, scheduled for November 19-22 at Island Village in Ocho Rios.

Harrison, who was recently scouted by Gag Management, described the experience as both surreal and deeply rewarding. “I’m honestly grateful. It still feels a little surreal, but more than anything I feel motivated. Being scouted has given me confidence that I’m moving in the right direction, and I’m looking forward to making the most of this opportunity,” he shared.

The young videographer and photographer revealed that he only learned about the audition a few days beforehand. Despite not being familiar with the area, he took the initiative to research the location and plan his journey, determined not to let the opportunity slip away.

That determination paid off when following the audition, it was confirmed he had been selected to walk during Jamaica Fashion Week. “It was a moment I’ll always remember. I was excited, but also deeply thankful because it felt like the beginning of something I had been working toward. It reminded me that opportunities can come when you stay committed to your goals and are prepared when they arrive,” Harrison said with a smile.

For the aspiring model, the upcoming showcase represents much more than a walk down the runway. “It’s a chance to grow, learn from experienced professionals, and challenge myself at a higher level. I hope it’s the foundation of a long career in fashion and an opportunity to represent Jamaica with pride,” he explained.

The opportunity holds special significance for Harrison, who is proud to represent his hometown of Golden Grove. “Representing my hometown makes this experience even more meaningful. Walking in front of people who have watched me grow is something I’ll never take for granted. I hope it shows others that opportunities can come from home and that it’s possible to pursue your dreams with dedication and perseverance,” he emphasized.

Outside of modeling, Harrison is equally committed to personal and professional growth.
