Antigua PM Advocates for Investment in Amphibious Vehicles to Propel Tourism
In a bold move to enhance the tourism landscape of Antigua and Barbuda, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has called for significant investment in amphibious vehicles that can traverse both land and water. This innovative approach aims to create a unique and versatile tourist experience that capitalizes on the dual terrains of the island nation.

During a recent broadcast on Pointe FM, Prime Minister Browne outlined his vision for a transformative investment in the tourism sector. He has directed the investment authority to actively seek out projects that can incorporate various businesses, particularly those that involve the acquisition of amphibious vehicles.

Amphibious vehicles, which are capable of operating on land and in water, present an exciting opportunity for land and sea tours. These vehicles, typically costing around $400,000 in the United States, could be sourced more affordably from China, with potential prices near $200,000 each.

Prime Minister Browne emphasized the importance of collaboration among Antiguans to operate these vehicles successfully. He encouraged interested parties to pool resources and develop proposals, highlighting tourism as a pivotal industry for the country’s economy.

The government has expressed its willingness to support such initiatives, indicating a proactive stance to attract investments that can benefit the tourism sector. “We cannot sit back and wait for opportunities to come to us,” stated Browne, stressing the need for proactive investment in crucial economic sectors.

With this initiative, Antigua and Barbuda are poised to set a new standard in tourism innovation. The introduction of amphibious vehicles is expected to not only boost the tourism industry but also showcase the nation’s commitment to sustainable and diverse tourism development.
